Autumn bedding picks

Here are our Autumn bedding picks, these are super easy to look after and are a popular choice for most gardens.

Pansy

Pansies are a great way to bring colour into your garden for the colder months. Pansies need to be watered regularly, the most common reason why pansies fail is that they are not watered enough. Be sure to deadhead these flowers to help encourage them to produce more blooms and to prolong the blooming season.

Primrose

Primroses are quite hardy; therefore, they are a common autumn bedding plant in most gardens. These plants prefer moist but well-drained soil, so they don’t need watering as often as pansies. Primroses will also need to be deadheaded and any yellow leaves removed.

Cyclamen

Cyclamen can provide beautiful colour for the garden when little else is flowering. These plants thrive better in shady locations, make sure you don’t plant them too deeply as they may not flower. Once temperatures start to rise during the onset of summer, cyclamen will start to go dormant until the cooler weather starts again.

Viola

Violas and pansies look alike however, violas tend to have smaller flowers but will produce more flowers per plant. With so many colours to choose from, they can really bring life to a garden in autumn. Violas are cool weather plants, but they prefer to be in full sunlight, it’s the light, not the heat they require.
