Get the look in 6 easy steps.

We love this look! A blissful boho setting that would suit any garden space or patio, perfect for chilling out on summer days. Follow our 6 easy steps below and you can make any outdoor living space feel blissfully bohemian and relaxing.

1. Take a seat, or two

Choose comfortable seating in a neutral colour palette, such as beige or grey. Materials such as rattan or wicker are perfect for pairing with other natural materials and creating a bohemian vibe. Most modern furniture will come with cushions, but adding layers is a great way to increase comfort. Throws and blankets are not suitable for the elements, but they can always be kept near the back door – ready to grab for those chilly spring breezes!

2. Keep it comfortable

Cushions are not just for the sofa anymore! You can find a whole range of cushions that have been specifically designed for the outdoors. Adding patterns and textures really builds up the setting and creates an inviting seating area. Perfect for those days when you want to kick back and relax in the sunshine.

3. Add a patterned rug

Bring the space together by laying down an outdoor rug. Not only is this another opportunity to add colours or patterns, but an outdoor rug can give the space a homely appeal. Paired with garden sofas and outdoor coffee tables, you can create your very own outdoor living room.

4. Plenty of planters

For a coordinated look, find planters in the same colour tones or materials as your outdoor furniture. To add a little contrast, opt for planters and plant pots in a darker shade or contrasting tone. Grey rattan furniture pairs beautifully alongside rustic dark wood, such as our barrel planters.

5. Shrubs for life

Fill planters and plant pots with bodacious shrubs and perennials. If the area is surrounded by borders or flower beds, get these brimming with bushy foliage and invite nature into the space. Plants not only help create a relaxing atmosphere, but they look beautiful as well. If in doubt – add more plants!

6. Lay down foundations

Last but not least, this look has been placed onto a beautiful decked area. Decking is certainly a pricier garden feature but will elevate any outdoor setting (quite literally!). The natural wooden finish also helps embrace that bohemian aesthetic. If you are on a budget and want to get a similar effect, consider items such as wooden trellis or bamboo screening. These are perfect for bringing additional natural materials into the space and creating dimensions.

Makeover your existing setting If you already have the basics such as furniture, plants or decking, why not give them a little facelift to match the theme? Wooden furniture or fencing can be painted easily and completely transforms the space. Switching out plant pots, adding new plants or laying down a new rug can make a big impact for a small price. Try something new! Add your own stamp This is an easy look to achieve in any outdoor space, just a few simple additions can really bring the blissful boho look to life. But why not make it your own? Once you have your space set up, blend it with your own style by adding in some bespoke items. Most importantly, make sure to take the time to relax and enjoy your new garden hangout – you’ve earned it.
