• Think about purchasing water butts, rainwater will come useful in the summer.

• While trees and shrubs are still dormant, continue planting them.

• Think ahead to what you want in your hanging baskets for that year and get ordering before the busy period!

• Mist your indoor plants regularly as the central heating can dry out the air.

• Start pruning your apple and pear trees whilst they’re still dormant.

• Remove any faded flowers from your winter pansies, this will stop them setting seed.

• Sort out your seeds, get rid of empty or out-of-date packets

• Top up bird baths with fresh water daily and melt ice with warm water on frosty days

• Make sure there is enough food for the birds, put some fat balls

• Move potted strawberry plants under cover to help encourage early fruiting

• Clear algae and moss and soggy leaves from paths, decking and steps
