If you have a potted tree the most environmentally friendly option is to plant the tree in your garden, and if you don’t want to a friend or a neighbour might.

Find out if your local council offers this service, then all you need to do is leave your tree out on the specified collection day and it will be taken away and recycled.
Create a home for wildlife
Get crafty with it and make shelters for wildlife. Also, when the wood rots you can create compost for your plants.

Put your tree through a garden shredder to create mulch that’s rich in nutrients.
Take your tree to your local recycling centre
Find out of your local recycling centre can recycle your tree, they may turn it into chippings for a local project.
