Details

Johnsons Runner Bean Achievement Seeds produces a high quality and heavy yielding, red flowered variety, that is popular among gardeners for exhibition as well as for eating. They produce large crops of long, smooth and straight pods with very good flavour. High in vitamin C, vitamin K and dietary fibre, these beans make an excellent addition to stir-fries, risottos or as a simple side dish. Ideal for blanching and freezing as a long-term storage solution. Try growing runner beans with sweet peas to entice pollinating insects to the flowers, and Nasturtiums to draw aphids away from your crop.

Easy to grow and versatile, peas and beans make a delicious and nutritious addition to any meal. As well as being a traditional side, legumes also provide a terrific source of protein for a vegan diet. Peas and broad beans prefer cool conditions but need to be grown in full sun or partial shade. Short on space? Many varieties are well suited to growing in plant pots. Ideally you do not want to overcook either peas or beans, keeping just a touch of crispness.
