Position & soil
Tulips will grow in a wide range of soils provided there is good drainage. They like sunshine but the flowers will last longer in partial shade.

Where to plant
Ideal for beds, borders and containers. Remove flower heads as they begin to fade. Avoid planting tulips repeatedly in exactly the same spot that they have been grown in recent years.

Expert tip
Ideal for naturalising under deciduous trees and shrubs.

Cannot plant straight away?
Keep your bulbs in a cool, light, and dry place and preferably hanging on a hook so that air can get to the bulbs at all angles. Ideally, you should aim to plant your bulbs within a week of receiving them, but if this is not possible, store them in a cool, dark place until you are ready to plant them.
