Taylors High Yielding Desiree Maincrop Seed Potatoes 2Kg

The Desiree potato is very much to be desired with its distinctive, glossy red skin combined with a light golden flesh. Sought after by allotment-holders due to its resistance to drought, the Desiree potato (solanum tuberosum) is a substantial, elongated tuber with an cylindric shape and shallow eyes. Dense, and low in moisture, creating a firm consistency, the Desiree potato when cooked exhibits waxiness, starchy, and floury attributes. A wonderfully versatile potato with a rich, earthy, flavour and tender texture that makes for a wholesome addition to any cooking recipe with a first class taste.

Characteristics:
When To Plant: We recommend that you start chitting / sprouting seed potatoes in the third week of February. This will give them four to five weeks to develop healthy sprouts just at the time when they are ready to be planted out in late March / early April.
When To Harvest: July Onwards
Soil Type: Prefers well-drained and loose soil
Advice: Wait until the foliage turns yellow to remove for storage
Disease Resistant: Potato Virus, Powdery Scab
