Cherry Lane and Jimmy’s Farm

Cherry Lane Garden Centres, have donated trees to Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park, a tourist attraction based just outside Ipswich.

The donation took place with the planting of the trees by founder Jimmy Doherty in the park’s Polar Bear Reserve. The 19 trees donated by Cherry Lane included nine Acers and a Christmas tree, and were planted to enhance the reserve for inhabitant Ewa and provide sensory stimulation. Ewa was rescued from a zoo closing down in Sweden and lives in an area called The Lost Lands of the Tundra that has open pastures, beautiful woodland, deep ponds and lakes. It is the largest polar bear reserve in Europe, which opened on-site last year.

The donation will see them working together on a range of green initiatives which align the QD Group’s Value Our Planet mission and the Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park’s charity – Space for the Wild. More details will be announced in the coming months.

Jimmy Doherty, owner of Jimmy’s Farm, said: “We have always held a vision of promoting a wider understanding of the natural world and inspiring future generations to support and protect our planet, and never has there been more need to do so. We are delighted to accept this donation from Cherry Lane and QD – a local, family run business, and look forward to working with them to create fun, easy to do activities that everyone can get involved with on the farm and at home to do their bit to help make a difference.”

Nisha Collins, brand and marketing manager for QD Group, said: “We’re excited to donate these trees to Jimmy’s Farm from Cherry Lane and within the wider QD Group. As part of our commitment to being a responsible retailer, our Value Our Planet mission aims to encourage customers to make more eco-friendly choices, as well as looking at ways that we can do more as a business. We are hoping to highlight the valuable work of Space for the Wild and get our stores and customers engaged and working together to help protect our planet.”
